Who We Are

The Vice President for Research (VPR) is the University official ultimately responsible for animal care and use at the University of Michigan. The UCUCA serves the VPR in the role of advisor regarding the animal care and use program.

The Committee reviews and approves animal use applications, protocol modifications, and changes to the University’s policies and SOPs concerning animal care and use. Committee members also conduct inspections along with the Office.

The Office reviews animal use applications and protocol modifications, conducts inspections, supports the Committee, and provides training for people working with animals.
