Interests:

I have a strong interest in biocontainment, education (curriculum development and post-graduate and professional education), diagnostic imaging, facility design and construction, environmental enrichment, and infectious disease research.

Responsibilities within the Unit for Laboratory Animal Medicine include:

  • Providing for and helping to oversee the clinical care of multiple species of animals utilized in scientific research at the University of Michigan.
  • Instruction of Postdoctoral Fellows and veterinary student interns and externs
    • Director, Clinical Postdoctoral Training Program in Laboratory Animal Medicine
    • Coordinator, Clinical/Research Veterinary Student Summer Program
  • Facilitating the appropriate and humane use of animals employed in research studies by directly assisting research personnel.
  • Overseeing issues within ULAM related to conducting animal studies involving hazardous substances (chemical or biologic).
    • Director, Animal Biosafety Level 3 Facility
  • Supervising the ULAM Office of Veterinary Technicians.
