Before scheduling and attending the ULAM Animal Room Procedures (formerly Micro-Isolation) class you must study the online training materials and take a short online quiz.

ULAM Required Courses:
A. Part I: Introduction to ULAM Animal Room Procedures (formerly SPF Technique Part 1 )
This is part one of a two part course designed to cover online the following topics: Structure of ULAM husbandry staff; Rodent caging, food, water and transport; Animal Identification; Methods of communication in the animal room; Veterinary care program; Micro-Isolation technique overview; Rodent health surveillance program; and Contamination types and door postings.
B. Part I: Introduction to ULAM Animal Room Procedures Online Quiz
(SPF Technique Quiz)
Please note: This is a mandatory quiz composed of 20 questions taken from Part I. Each question is worth 5 points each. An 80% score or higher is required in order to be eligible to register for Part II of ULAM Animal Room Procedures: Micro-isolation technique Workshop.
C. Part II: ULAM Animal Room Procedural Courses (Formerly Micro Isolation Technique Workshop part 2)
A registration link will be provided upon successful completion of the Part I online quiz.
Attendance is required to obtain access into ULAM Managed Animal Facilities on campus. The workshop will cover the following topics: Rodent classification; Review Animal Room travel patterns; Room entry procedures; Review contamination signage; Micro-isolation (MI) technique terminology and basic room information; Laminar Flow Hood Basics Introduced; MI Technique demonstration.
ULAM Optional Course
Ventilated Training: This course is designed to provide an overview for the research community on how to work with and use automatic-watering ventilated racks used throughout ULAM to house rodents.
